Large Scale Central

2020 NGRC in Nashville, who is going?

I’m going to be there, looks like an opportunity to meet more East Coast guys, so who is coming?

Intend to be there Wed evening though Sat morning.

Maybe I can get a date with Rooster.

Greg

I will be get in Wed nite leave Sunday Morning

Dennis

I’ve been trying to get in as a clinician for starting in small environ or growing the hobby with the kids. Every time I reach out, get told, wait a couple weeks. Since it falls during the end of the school year I’d like to get a clinic spot so I can claim it for work for my school’s train club.

So, long story short, I’m up in the air (though i have couches to surf since I have friends that live down there).

No more attendees?

My wife and I, my brother in law and his wife will be there, we are staying from Monday to Saturday at the host Opryland Hotel, and are signed up for the General Jackson Showboat dinner, the banquet on Friday night and the tours each day.

I will have my AZBTO red vest to represent our club, so a rather large 6’3” guy with a red vest should be easy to spot!!!

Be nice if several of the East side LSC people would come on down! or up, or over form

Midwest and other areas.

Please post the dates. I am too lazy to go search for them.

Thanks, Greg.

When I went to enter on my calendar, I already had it written in. Another sign of Old Age.

My wife and I are planning on being there. Will be there in time to place a couple of buildings in the competition for fun. Hoe to put a face to a name there.

Anyone worried about the damage from the tornados and/or the CoronaVirus?

Am considering.

Yes,

Quite concerned about both as it will put a damper on things after re-reading this twice before posting as recommended .

from the posts I have read, a couple of the layouts , including the club president had damage but will be fully ready for the convention. As for the virus I think it will be over with by summertime

I got over doing conventions years ago, they offer nothing that attracts me anymore, as always, have fun !

Yep, I think the virus will be over by summertime, unfortunately the convention is at the end of May.

I was looking forwards to more of the layouts, although I had a great time talking to the Kidmans, and last talk with the split-jaw people, the new guys at Accucraft, and of course Charlie Ro.

Greg

I found you can cancel your hotel room reservation up to 72 hours before the convention.

Looking into any possible flexibility / refund from cancelling the convention attendance.

Just because The Circus Midget Clown Porn Convention was booked at the same hotel as the Train Convention that year doesn’t mean you should continue to be bitter about an event that happened in 1995 even though it was like yesterday in your mind!

Same here. I’d rather do the Ops sessions during the year. Last one I attended was in Vegas.

I too stopped going to the conventions… My whole reason for going to them years ago was to see

the different layouts and talk with the folks about how they did stuff to build the layout… Problem was

that everyone I asked about how they did something I got the standard reply.

““I have no idea, I hired so and so to build it.””

Found more information by just going to the York show and talking with folks that visited the layout foyer…

Found most of the information by visiting operations sessions and talking with those folks.

Just my 2 cents worth…

FWIW, I received an email today from the Hilton chain saying that due to this virus, and as long as you cancel 24 hours in advance, there would be no charge.
